Morning Talk by 5A Wu Ching Man

Salute to our Frontliners against COVID-19

Good morning Principal, teachers and fellow schoolmates, I am Wu Ching Man from 5A. Today, I am going to pay tribute to the frontline medical staff for their fearlessly deploying their skills and risking their lives to save and protect the people of our city in the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the pandemic, medical staff including doctors, nurses, carers, emergency service providers and cleaners have spare no efforts to treat and cure patients suffering from COVID-19. They work from dawn to dusk to heal the patients and are on duty continuously for 30 hours. What’s more, never do they shirk their responsibility. Even though they know the virus is highly contagious, they risk their lives to approach patients every day every minute, hoping that every patient can recover as soon as possible. It is reported that many medical staff under tremendous pressure especially the days when protective gears were in shortage. The medical staff still stand fast at their posts and dedicate themselves to saving every single life. This kind of spirit deserves our respect.

As a matter of fact, the pressure suffered by medical staff not only from their work, but also from their families. It is well known that COVID-19 is highly contagious, many medical staff dare not go home after work, fearing that their families may get infected.  They resort to staying in local hotels so that their families can be protected. Mothers had not seen their children for weeks and they could only rely on virtual meeting. The pressure they suffer both physically and psychologically is far beyond our imagination.

All in all, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the selfless, professional and high-quality medical staff for protecting our home. Thanks to their hard work and dedication, most Hong Kong people are safe and healthy. I sincerely hope they can stay healthy and return home safely, and the pandemic is under control as soon as possible. I would like to encourage all of you to pay tribute to the frontline medical staff, appreciate their selfless dedication and learn their self-sacrificing spirit.

Thank you.
